Sneak Thief

In a statement read by PC Karl Bobbins, Northumbria Police today announced that the famous Alnwick Sneak has been carried off by thieves. The Sneak, which was housed in a glass case inside Alnwick castle is known throughout the region, with visitors coming from as far afield as Amble and Widdrington to catch a glimpse, or maybe have their photo- graph taken beside its case. Police believe that the Sneak thief struck between the hours of 10pm and 1am on the night of the 23rd of January. The thief entered the building by means of a door, and carried off the Sneak after getting past the Castle's advanced security system - one Mr. Arnold Battenburg. Mr. Battenburg told Porkmice reporters that he had fallen asleep for an hour or so before he was awakened by hunger and went out to buy a pie from the all night Butchers shop on Bondgate. "When I got back to the castle the Sneak was gone, I'd only been out for half an hour, so I don't know how they got in so quick." The Police have recommended that the Castle reviews it’s security arrangements, with the possibility of buying an alarm system as a high priority. In the meantime, they ask that anyone with information regarding this matter contact them as soon as possible, as the Sneak will quickly deteriorate once removed from its casing, and an important part of Northumbrian heritage will be lost for ever.
