A doctor from Detchant who refused to treat a woman patient because she was “too ugly” and referred her to the local vet, was cleared of the charge of “gross negligence” by the Ethics Committee of the Medical Council, at a special hearing on Tuesday. Doreen Crudhubby, 72, of Twizell, had alleged that on an emergency visit to Dr. Mobeus' practice to have a Rice Crispy removed from her larynx, he ordered her to be sent to Turnbulls Veterinarian Surgery as she was “too ugly”. Committee chairman Dr Selby Pith- Helmet said that Dr Rolf Mobeus of Plethora Road, Detchant, “has the full support of the entire committee. Sadly this unfortunate woman is as ugly as sin itself, as rough as a badgers arse, she looks like she has had her head in the tumble dryer along with a set of chisels and the family cat, poor sole The committee had taken the unusual step of asking Mrs Crudhubby to attend the hearing, Two committee members fainted, two threw -up and several screamed when she entered the room. Dr Pith-Helmet, who looked visibly shaken, said that the committee would be sending a letter of condolence to the family of Dr Mingus Turnbull, the vet to whom Mrs Crudhubby had been referred.
